Buzau: Most expensive water in Romania, at beginning of 2025 -10.06 RON/m3, exclusive of VAT

Buzau Water Company, the regional operator of water and sewage services in the county, practices, at the beginning of the year, the highest tariff in Romania for drinking water produced, transported and distributed, namely 10.06 RON/m3, exclusive of VAT, on the following positions are the profile companies from Bacau, Braila, Prahova and Vaslui.

According to the data of the National Regulatory Authority for Community Public Utilities Services (ANRSC), on January 1, 2025, the new approved tariffs for drinking water distribution services and prices for sewerage-purification services entered into force. For the second consecutive year, the Buzau Water Company applies, in January, the highest tariff for drinking water.

„The Buzau Water Company has a price for potable water produced, transported and distributed RON/m3, exclusive of VAT, of 10.06 RON. The tariff for sewerage/sewerage – treatment is 6.95 RON, exclusive of VAT. Date of entry into force of the approved price/tariff is January 1, 2025,” says ANRSC.

Starting from January 1, the regional company from Bacau has a tariff for drinking water of 9.88 RON/m3, exclusive of VAT, and the companies from Braila, Prahova and Vaslui set the price at 9.66 RON.

For the period 2020-2025, the Buzau Water Company applied a tariff strategy generated by a co-financing for the implementation of some investments made from European funds which is reflected in the price of the services provided. The increase in prices is also explained by inflation.

„It is a tariff policy that started in 2021 and this year is the last one in which the percentage increase is applied. Due to the high inflation, the price has increased a lot. The inflation has been reflected in the price approximately 70%, 30% is the real increase which means some money It is the last year when the tariff policy is applied,” the Water Company’s economist, Dragomir Vasii, declared for AGERPRES on Monday.

At the opposite pole, Aquatorontal SRL from Timis practices the cheapest rate for drinking water, of 3.52 RON/m3, exclusive of VAT, followed by operators from Orastie, Ramnicu Valcea and Miercurea Ciuc.

„The difference is given by the systems put into operation, some, for example, pump only once and the water reaches the tap, in other situations, like ours, we pump it five times. We remove it from the boreholes in the station, from the station to the water pump, from hydrophore at samd blocks. The expenses in the back, they raise the price. Next year there should be no increase, as far as a decrease is concerned, let’s see inflation,” added Dragomir Vasii.

In January 2024, the Buzau Water Company applied the most expensive tariff for drinking water, 9.30 RON/m3, exclusive of VAT.
